Capital repair of state road N-14 Oleksandrivka - Kropyvnytskyi – Mykolaiv, km.175+000 - km.190+000, km.198+300 - km.206+000

According to results of public sale in Prozorro system at the end of 2019 our construction company award a contract for Capital repair of state road N-14 Oleksandrivka - Kropyvnytskyi – Mykolaiv, km.175+000 - km.190+000 and km.198+300 - km.206+000. Length of repair area is 22,700 kilometers. Works on this site is scheduled deployment of repair works that took place in 2019 on the km.161+204 - km.175+000. Construction works have to be completed as soon as possible. Present condition of road surface doesn`t allow free-moving of wehicles.

Works were started on March 2020.

After 2 months of work on the site of repair works, a significant amount of work was performed especially on the arrangement of layers of pavement, namely:

  • Arranged the lower layer of the base of the stone screening dust thickness of 0.15 m on a section with a total length of 7.0 km
  • The upper layer of the base of gravel-sand mixture reinforced with cement grade M60 thickness 0.16 m on the site with a total length of 5.0 km;
  • A layer of B30 cement concrete pavement, thickness 0.26 m, was arranged on a section with a total length of 3.2 km.

In parallel, work is arranged to stabilize the wet soil, backfill the ground in places of distribution, milling the existing asphalt pavement, etc.

As of July 2020, the construction of pavement was completed on a section with a total length of more than 6 km. Work on the site is performed around the clock to ensure continuous laying of the base layers and the pavement. The amount of inert materials that are imported daily to the facility and the cement plant exceeds 2,000 tons, cement - more than 500 tons.

In addition to works of arrangement of pavement laters, the installation of fortified roadsides is underway, and work has begun on the repair of the bridge at km 178 + 245.

As of November 2020, the main works on the capital repair site have been completed, namely the laying of new pavement for all 22.700 km has been completed, the installation of pavement on all transition lanes and bus stops has been completed. Sealing of expansion joints on all length of a site of performance of capital repairs is executed. In addition, the capital repair of the bridge crossing at km 178 + 245 has been completed. Reinforcement of roadsides is executed. The installation of edge drainage trays, strengthening of ditches, slopes continues.

In addition to the actual quality of construction and installation work, one of the main areas of work of our company is the introduction of the latest technologies in construction sites that were not previously used due to lack of regulatory framework. In this direction, this object is indicative and unique for our country, because the technology of work, in which, everything has been determined by existing standards, we have been able to make significant improvements. In this context, it is worth noting the work on sealing deformation joints and work on the installation of edge drainage trays, performed on the site of capital repair of the highway H-14 Olexandrivka - Kropyvnytskyi - Mykolayiv km.175 + 000 - km.190 + 000:

  • Our company together with leading research institutions in the field of construction has carried out extremely important and painstaking work for the possibility of using the latest technology for sealing expansion joints, which is widely used in Europe, the United States and some CIS countries. . It is a question of sealing of deformation joints by means of preformed sealants. In order to be able to use them, at the end of 2019 the procedure of harmonization of relevant European standards was started in Ukraine. In addition, in the absence of standards for the use of such technology by our specialists, together with the State Enterprise "GosdorNDI" the relevant individual standards were developed and put into effect. Thus, our company became the first in Ukraine to apply the technology of sealing deformation joints with the help of pre-formed seals.

  • in the vast majority of projects for the repair and construction of roads for drainage of surface water from the roadway in areas with a significant longitudinal slope in our country used prefabricated concrete edge trays, mass-produced at factories of reinforced concrete products. The use of ready-mixed concrete elements has many disadvantages, the main of which are the speed of installation and significant costs for the delivery of concrete elements from factories to work sites. As part of the capital repair works of the H-14 highway on the section km.175 + 000 - km.190 + 000, it is necessary to install 11.5 km of edge trays. In order to increase the pace of work and the possibility of opening traffic on the repaired section of the highway in 2020, our company has made all the necessary approvals for the installation of a monolithic edge tray using the complex WIRTGEN SP250. For one working shift 500-600 p.m. tray (for comparison when installing precast concrete trays, this figure is not more than 100-120 p.m.).

In November 2020, traffic on the repaired section of the road was fully opened.
