Overhaul of the public highway of state importance H-14 on the section km.153 + 196 - km.161 + 204

LLC ERCC continues to improve a condition of a road network of Nikolaevshchina. In 2021, major works on the overhaul of the H-14 highway on the section km.153 + 196 - km.161 + 204, and our company is the general contractor. According to the project documentation, after the overhaul, the road will be covered with cement-concrete pavement. This section of the H-14 highway is currently the last section with extremely poor condition. After completion of repair and construction works travel across the Nikolaev area on the H-14 road, and it is more than 80 km will occupy no more than half an hour whereas only two years ago this indicator made more than 3 hours.

A characteristic feature of this area of ​​overhaul is the experimental areas, which for the first time since the independence of our country will be arranged continuously reinforced cement-concrete pavement, moreover, reinforcement will be performed using composite reinforcement of domestic manufacturers, whose products are not inferior to chemical products. sustainability of products of the best manufacturers in Europe and the United States.

The total length of the section of the highway where the overhaul is performed is 8 km. Three experimental sites of continuously reinforced cement-concrete pavement will be arranged on the specified site. At each of the sites, a different reinforcement scheme will be used to obtain practical data on the operation of each type of reinforced coating under conditions of high loads from heavy vehicles. These sites will be used by specialized research institutions to develop appropriate norms and standards.

In addition to reinforcement, our company is the first in Ukraine to implement another technology in this area, which is widespread in Western countries. More information later.

As of the end of May 2021 milling work on the existing layer of asphalt pavement has been started at the site, the old pavement structure is being dismantled. In the first one and a half kilometers, two lower layers of the base have already been arranged - a layer of screening comrade. 0.18 m and a layer of crushed stone-sand mixture reinforced with cement brand MM-60 thickness 0.18 m.

As of October 2021 the installation of the base layers has been completed at the overhaul facility and the installation of the top layer of cement concrete coating continues.

In addition, as promised earlier, we provide more detailed information on the new technology that has been used on this section of the highway. We are talking about the technology of "quiet" concrete, or "washed concrete". Its essence is to create a roughness on the concrete surface by exposing the surface of a large aggregate. This technology is an alternative to the technology of roughness on cement-concrete coatings with metal brushes. The main advantages of this technology are higher adhesion of the vehicle wheel to the pavement surface, as well as, which is especially important in the conditions of the road passing through settlements, lower noise pollution.

As of the beginning of November 2021 the installation of layers of pavement is completely completed on the site. Currently, work is being done on finishing, arrangement of pedestrian zones, safety islands, bus stops, installation of barrier fencing.

As of the end of 2021 the facility is fully ready for commissioning. Relevant documentation is being prepared.
